Why Employment?

“At the end of the day, the true value proposition is of education is employment” Sebastian Thrun

Make migrant workers visible

Thousands of Cambodian migrant workers cross the border to Thailand daily to seek for a better job opportunities. In spite of receiving a comparatively respectful income, the majority of whom have ongoing suffering harsh work conditions and unfair treatment at work . Or worse still, as a migrant worker, is at the risk of dealing with traffickers or being threatened with repatriation. Therefore, we work to assure employment opportunities are being provided for those who should have a choice to stay and work in their homeland and build their own country. In long term, we hope to stop the outflow of Cambodians as themselves can be productive members and contribute to their living place.

Break the poverty cycle

The world has evolved; however, Cambodia is still exposed to poverty and inequalities where survival is a struggle. The less educated fear losing their jobs and worry how to the bear and raise children. local workers are lacking skills and technology. A vast majority of women here are trapped in the curse of gender inequality, being forced to stay at home and dropped out from school to work in farm. People who do not get a decent education are expected to be a sweat labour…No one should be deprived of necessity of living so that we create jobs and provide our workers with a sustainable future.

Targets

Workers returning from Thailand and villagers in rural area are always at the center of CTEP Employment Program since the project launched in 2015.

Our approach

CTEP does not belong to any religions, political fractions or private sectors and thus only limited resources are available. Despite experiencing hardships, we make resources efficiency a priority in our employment program.

  • Cooperate with National Employment Agency (NEA) in holding recruitment events, organizing factory tour and providing job training.
  • Use CTEP Learning Centers network to spread job information and teach skills for job application.
  • Help factories and schools engage in Cooperative Education to combine classroom-based education with practical work experience for students.

Achivement

We emphasize significant benefit that Employment program carries whilst we dedicated to cultivate friendship with Cambodia in addition to fostering people-to-people diplomacy and encourage locals here to stand up on their own feet.

CTEP provides rural youth with specific skills and job application training needed for most factories. Additionally, helping Cambodian youth in building a reliable work ethic of hard work and discipline is of particular importance.

Till Jan. 2017, 400-some people have found jobs benefited from the Program.  Our target in the coming year.is to achieve 2,000 jobs accumulated.
